About Munktells Mekaniska Verkstads AB

In 1832, Johan Theofron Munktell founded his first movement, which soon became a so-called "mechanical factory". Sweden's first threshing machine was manufactured here, and a few years before Sweden's first steam locomotive ("Förstlingen") had been manufactured. The company was also widely known for its steam-powered locomotives. Johan Theofron Munktell runs the company until his death in 1887. The company is transformed into a limited company in 1879 and the company is then named Munktells Mekaniska Verkstads AB. In 1913, Sweden's first tractor began to be built, and the first one was delivered in 1915. It is a creation of over 8 tons, powered by a hot bulb engine.
